Fees and insurance
Kostenzuschuss and how billing works
Psychotherapy in Austria is a private service at this practice. You pay for the session and can then apply for a partial refund, the Kostenzuschuss, from your Krankenkasse.
Clinical assessment and written report: on request
Cancellation without charge up to 24 hours before
How the refund works
Before your second session, ask your general practitioner (Hausarzt) for a Bestätigung: a short written confirmation that psychotherapy is medically indicated. Your insurer will not pay a contribution without it.
Pay for each session directly at the practice and keep every Honorarnote (the invoice you receive after each session).
Submit the Bestätigung together with your Honorarnoten to your public health insurer, ÖGK, BVAEB or SVS, by post, through their online portal or their app. Each insurer refunds a fixed contribution per session to your bank account.
If you also have private health insurance, for example with UNIQA or Wiener Städtische, send the same documents to them as well. Private policies often refund more than the public contribution; check the conditions of your policy before starting.
Confirm the current contribution amount with your own insurer before you start, as the published rates change from year to year.
